TGS 07: More Fabula Nova Crystallis

Sure Square has been pumpin' TGS hard this year. Three new trailers of all the Fabula compilation have released, though there's still no video available at the moment, so we'll have the caption from IGN:

In addition to the gun wielding heroine we've seen in previous screens and footage, this new trailer revealed a brunette with a bow, some kind of cybernetic female that seemed to be partially comprised of water, and a guy with a cap that rides a motorcycle. As with most Square-produced CG sequences, there were a lot of close-ups on the characters as they smirked knowingly before launching into an attack.

Though the video started with the train sequence we've seen a few times now, it eventually revealed a stunning canyon vista where hulking dinosaur-like creatures lumbered in sparkling waters under what appeared to be a planet in the sky dripping ice. The little snippets of gameplay shown featured some fast-paced combat, showing what appeared to be a character turn order sequence in the top left of the screen. Few story details could be gleaned from the trailer, except that it will again involve crystals. But such a notion is already built into the title. No release date was given.

The Versus trailer had less of an epic presentation, but was still impressive. It featured the grey-haired main character descending a staircase outside a stately looking building in a dismal metropolis. He was getting shelled by armored guards at the bottom of the steps but deflecting their bullets with some kind of magical shield. Cut between the action sequence where he decisively sliced them all up with his sword were scenes with a white robed sage overseeing some kind of magical device, and a sword-wielding female character dressed in a skirt. Also shown was a male character in a vest armed with a short gun. He and the grey-haired character appeared to be comrades, as they took a car trip together out of the city into a desert wasteland featured near the trailer's end. No gameplay was shown during the demo, but it did flash a line of text, "this is a fantasy based on reality," whatever that means. Again, no release date.

For Agito, a CG trailer showed a student at some kind of fantastical school activating a crystal-powered device, which subsequently exploded. The trailer was brief, but it appears to incorporate a large host of students as playable characters.

TGS 07: The Last Remnant Trailer

For what it seems, this trailer is a mix of real time cutscenes and actual gameplay.
This trailer sure gives us a good taste of what Final Fantasy was like years ago for its turn-based battle system and will contain Quick Time Event sequences similar to Kingdom Hearts where the player must press a combination of buttons with a correct timing to defeat enemies.

The game is set for a worldwide release in 2008 for both the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, but for what it seems, the trailer missed Europe there...

Anyway, domo arigato and enjoy the English-voiced trailer here:

Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days apparently allows for up to four people to play simultaneously as different members of Organization XIII. 358/2 Days' main character seems to be Roxas. This Nintendo DS installment will deal with the "time of the other side."

Kingdom Hearts: Coded will see the return of Sora and the main cast from the earlier installments. Set to release to mobile phones, Coded takes place somewhere in between the first and second installments of Kingdom Hearts, exploring the aspect of time gone by.

TGS 07: 3 New FF Tactics Advance 2 Videos

Today, GameTrailers has provided 3 new more gameplay videos for Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2: The Sealed Grimoire.
There are quite some features which were already present in the previous series, such as the battle system, the pub gameplay where you took all the quests and a world map navigation gameplay, which seems that we won't be able to see the entire world.
It's not that much for those who already played FFTA but it's good to remember the old times.

Last Remnant Trailer

Get your first look at Square Enix’s latest, with a special note from the director just for you.

July 3, 2007 - In the world of RPGs, no developer/publisher’s games are more closely watched than those of Square Enix. Its newest title for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, The Last Remnant, promises to give gamers an experience unlike any we’ve seen before.

As a special note to introduce the first public trailer for The Last Remnant, director Hiroshi Tokai sent over a personal note to introduce the video.

“After much anticipation, I am delighted to be able to reveal an exclusive trailer for THE LAST REMNANT. A lot of work has gone into creating this trailer so I hope you enjoy this peek of what’s to come.

“Following THE LAST REMNANT’s announcement at the Square Enix Party in May, we received a tremendous amount of feedback from both media and fans. I am aware that some of the early information regarding the game may have been a bit misleading, so we hope today’s presentation will clear some things up.

“I would like to take this opportunity to correct one of the common misconceptions about the game. Though many believe there are two protagonists, in actuality there is only one protagonist — Rush and he is the only playable character.

“The man splattered with blood is a vital character in the game, and the story’s anti-hero. This ominous character has captured the interest of many and we will strive to develop him into a character that will live up to everyone’s expectations.

“We look forward to sharing updates with you throughout the development of this project. Please keep an eye out for future announcements, and enjoy this latest taste of the world of THE LAST REMNANT.”

– Hiroshi Takai
THE LAST REMNANT Director

Although she's back, she still needs space, so, bother me instead of her. She'll be also working on the blog posting news and she'll be taking over the forum too.

Nice to have you back Solfira.

P.S.: Her name in the blog is Solfy Waky.

Square Planet as Blog now??

"This guy doesn't stops" - that's you might thinking now, right? Yeah, I never stop!
Square Planet started at the forum, then a website was started to being developed in a free hoster, but, when I took a new look at Blogspot.com I thought it would be easier to post news and redirect them to the forum.
And more, the blog is totally public, so any comments are acceptable, this won't make other Square Enix fans that ain't registered at the forums, to post at their free will.
In spite of beginning again on a "blogster" it doesn't mean you can't contribute on our old "Library". I'm trying to still keep that, to give all the information you need 24/7.
I've checked other blogspots and soem of them have other pages, which I hope to have some too to give the library a new place to "live".
So, send your ideas, opinions, problems, suggestions, etc to our e-mail: square_planet@hotmail.com or join our forums and discuss with our members and administrators.

Your best regards,
